The Great Fire of London
We have been exploring the Great Fire of London and created our own models of London houses from 1666, which were made from wood, timber frames, wattle and daub. We've discovered just how flammable these old buildings were. We also compared these historical houses with the safer homes we live in today, and learnt lots about fire safety and the amazing work our fire service does to keep us safe. Miss McDowell is so proud of the children’s creativity and enthusiasm!
Check out our own Water Chains to experience just how tricky it must have been for people in 1666 to pass along leather water buckets to fight the fire.
