Does the size of a parachute affect the speed of fall?
We worked collaboratively to plan, make parachutes and test them to carry out the investigation.
The class successfully worked in groups to make parachutes using a bin liner, string and multi-link cubes which acted as the weight.
In our groups, we decided onthe shape and made a small, medium and large parachute. Each parachute had the same weight added and dropped from the same height.
The class concluded that the size of a parachute does affect the speed of fall. The bigger the parachute, the more air which is trapped, causing the parachute to travel more slowly to the ground.
