Accelerated Reader
The ACCELERATED READER programme allows our children in Cumran to develop their understanding of what they read. All pupils compete a STAR READER test. This provides each child with their AR reading levels based on their understanding of various pieces of text.
Pupils will select books to read within the allocated AR book levels.
Books can be selected from the school library, reading books from home, public libraries or log onto myON.
When pupils have finished reading their book, they will complete an AR quiz. The programme is able to calculate approximately how long a child reads every day, based on the frequency of quizzes and the book length. Pupils should aim to reach their given target.
