MATHS WEEK

Maths week was the BEST! The children all loved it and it was a chance to work with other classes.

Maths skills were sharpened and brains in tip top condition. It was great fun and very competitive. 😄➕➖✖️➗

PLACE VALUE- up to millions!

We used playing cards to learn all about place value. Working in pairs or groups of three we each had our own place value grid where we placed our cards to make a number of our choice. For example: Winner is the person with the largest number, smallest number or perhaps closest to 500,000.
We chose our own rules for each round, keeping a tally of who won each round.

We also played, STICK, SWAP or STEAL. It was super fun!

THE COMPETITION is ON! Maths Investigations.
Each group had to find the answers to various clues. This enabled them to dismiss some initial culprits from their investigation. By a process of elimination after each clue, the culprit gets closer to be found out for his/her crime!
We LOVE doing these! We learn lots of maths facts and it really supports our long term learning.

12 and 24 hour clock.

Year 6 made matching cards of 12 and 24 hour clock times. They then tried all the different sets to see if they could match them against the clock.
