Be the Best Version Of Yourself
On Monday we welcomed Cormac Venney to Cumran Primary School to lead a workshop for pupils in Year 7. Cormac is a Performance Psychology Coach for Ulster Rugby and Mourne GAA Academies and has delivered support to groups in the areas of sport, education and business. His innovative, interactive and educational workshop was inspiring for our pupils as he focussed on improving performance, whether facing an important exam, a sporting activity or challenging experience. Using the mnemonic RIPPLE, he taught the pupils how to manage themselves and their approach to stressful situations. He taught the pupils deep breathing techniques, how to improve their preparation and the power of imagery. He also looked at the importance of positivity, routine and letting go when we make mistakes. These are powerful tools that the pupils were able to take away with them and develop further at home and at school. Using inspirational video footage, the workshop was an excellent learning experience for the pupils in developing their “I can do,” attitude to life. We have no doubt that our pupils will use these skills when facing all sorts of challenges in the near and distant future.
