Accelerated Reader
In Cumran, children participate in the accelerated reading programme. All pupils compete a star reader quiz which will provided each child with their AR reading levels. Pupils will select books to read within the allocated AR book levels, they can select a book from the school library, reading books from home or from public libraries or log onto myON. Year 7 pupils should aim to read at least 25 minutes each night. When pupils have finished their book, they will complete an AR quiz. The programme is able to calculate approximately how long a child reads every day based on the frequency of quizzes and the book length. Pupils should aim to reach their given target.
