On Tuesday 17th November at Titanic Centre, Belfast, we were delighted and proud to win the Northern Ireland ICT Excellence Award 2015!
It is fantastic we came 1st in this competition recognising us as the top school in NI transforming teaching and learning through technology. This competition involved all types of schools – primary, secondary, grammar and special schools. Excitement mounted in the audience of 500 as results were announced: Highly Commended – Harberton Special School, St Colman’s College; Runner Up – Ashfield Girls High; Winner – CUMRAN PRIMARY SCHOOL!
The judges were highly complimentary about our school. Afterwards one of the judges from England, a leading light in education and IT and who has judged many competitions, said our school was the best primary school he had ever visited. Another judge said the scores were marked out of 150 and they could not find any reason to deduct any marks from our school.
This is a tremendous achievement and shows the teamwork that is evident on a daily basis in our school – everyone played their part – pupils, staff, parents, governors. The award recognises the high quality learning and teaching happening in Cumran on a daily basis where ICT is used as a tool to enhance the learning experiences for the children.
Every primary school follows the NI Curriculum but how they follow it differentiates the outstanding from the norm. I always say we at Cumran are unique – and it is great that yet again external bodies recognise how special Cumran is. Well done everyone!
