Learning Support
A very warm welcome to the Learning Support area of the website
All staff in Cumran Primary School believe in an inclusive ethos and that every pupil has an entitlement to develop their full potential, while being educated alongside their peers. We are very fortunate to be able to offer additional support for learning, to pupils needing extra help, so that they can get the most out of their education. Support provided in the class and wider school will depend on an individual child's needs.
Special needs provision may take place within the classroom or during short periods when pupils are withdrawn from class, enabling pupils to have more individualised teaching. Such additional support does not replace classroom teaching- it is supplementary to it.
Parents are regularly consulted and updated on their children's progress at each stage of the process in order for any child's difficulty to be addressed.

Support offered includes –
Foundation stage-
First Steps Programme - developing listening skills, following instructions and gross motor skills.
WellComm Programme - developing expressive and receptive language skills.
Sound Awareness Programme - developing the awareness of sound and letter symbols linked with letter formation, CVC words, blends, digraphs, spelling patterns, sound manipulation and reading / writing words.
