Numeracy

Capacity

To kick off our capacity topic, we went outside for outdoor learning day and were estimating and measuring the capacity of different containers. Our estimations were very good! We filled the containers then poured the contents into a measuring jug and were able to accurately read the scales in litres and millilitres, and compared this to our initial estimations.

We made sure not to waste the water we used for our investigation and watered the grounds around the school with it.

Measuring our bodies!

Our WAU topic met numeracy in this investigation into the length of the bones in our bodies. We got into pairs and took it in turns to help measure each other's bones using a measuring tape and recorded our results. Legs, arms, ears, noses and fingers. This was lots of fun and we made lots of discoveries about ourselves and each other.
