Here are a few ways we learn our spelling words in Year 5.
Character descriptions
We’re beginning to plan our own pirate adventures, starting with character descriptions. In this lesson we got into groups and created a description for our pirate. We thought about appearance, personality and how the character moves/speaks. We used lots of adjectives and other descriptive phrases, and came up with some amazing pirate characters.
We look forward to designing our own characters and planning our pirate stories.
Narrative Writing
We kicked off our narrative writing topic with a lesson on features, and used the well known story of Little Red Riding Hood to sequence and add labels to the opening, build-up, problem, resolution and ending of the story. This helped our understanding of the structure of a piece of narrative writing.
We’re looking forward to writing our own narratives!
