Year 1

Year 1 drew these beautiful pictures of reindeer and then they painted them using watercolour paints. We framed the pictures for the children to keep.

Recycling Workshop

Year 1 loved having a visit to class from Noel Lyons from Arc 21 about recycling. Noel even had a special pot that had the smell of the dump in it......some of the children were not too sure about smelling it! The children knew that some things could be recycled and they were really surprised to see the toy bin lorry and fluffy toy that were made from recycled items.

The children then used strips of newspaper to make a pot for some seeds. Noel did suggest they tried to use them for headbands but the children thought they would just blow away! The children really enjoyed planting their cress seeds and then taking them home to look after.

European Day of Languages

Year 1 dressed up in green clothes to celebrate European Day of Languages. They were celebrating Ireland and they listened to, and danced to, traditional Irish music. They also enjoyed watching a story about a leprechaun. Most of the children enjoyed tasting potato bread! They enjoyed looking at how different countries have different colours of flags and they were able to say what colours are in the Irish flag.

Come Dine With Me

Year 1 had a Come Dine With Me with a member of their family. They had a lovely dinner together in our school hall and they got to meet Ruth our school cook.
